SusannahWest's Charoset Recipe

From the Columbus OH Dispatch

2 c pitted dates
1 c walnuts
1/2 t ginger
2 T sweet red wine

Soak dates for 3-4 hours and then simmer for 20 minutes. Grind nuts. Combine dates and nuts and blend well. Mix with ginger and a little wine. Spread on matzoh at Passover with romaine. Good as an hors d'oeuvre throughout the year. Makes 2 1/2 cups.
