ProudMommy's Bread-Machine Challah

Here's the recipe I use 'most every week - it makes having a bread machine worthwhile - even if I don't use it for much else :-)

1 1/4 cup water
1 egg
3 Tbsp. oil
4 cups flour (I use 2 cups bread flour 2 cups whole wheat)
3 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. dried yeast (this is roughly equivalent to 1 packet, I buy a big package which I keep in the freezer)

Put everything in the bread machine, as per your manufacturer's directions (I put in liquids, then dry ingredients on top). Use the 'dough' cycle. When done, take it out, braid it and bake! This makes two fairly small loaves and one roll - we aren't big challah eaters so it's plenty.
